The magazine

Contact the editors

The editors read everything sent to [email protected], and that address is the only door: this magazine has no forms, no phone line and no offices to visit. Email is answered in the order it arrives, usually within a few working days, and always by a person rather than an autoresponder.

What belongs in this mailbox

  • Corrections: a link, the sentence, and if possible the source that contradicts it; verified errors are fixed on the page, dated.
  • Source suggestions: public institutional material we should read or cite, especially newer guidance.
  • Glossary requests: the heart words you met on a report or in a news piece and could not carry home.
  • Rights and republication questions about text, structure or the glossary.

What does not belong here

This address is an editorial channel, not a medical one. It cannot answer questions about symptoms, readings, medications or any individual situation, and messages asking for personal health advice receive, honestly, a pointer back to a clinician. If you are experiencing chest pressure, breathlessness at rest, fainting or any medical emergency, do not write to a magazine: call 911 in the United States, or your local emergency number, right now.

For everything the magazine is and refuses to be, the about page and the editorial policy hold the details, and the sponsored content page explains how commercial work is labeled when it exists. The journal section carries the notebook behind these choices.

Health notice: This page is informational content, not medical advice. It cannot replace care from a qualified clinician and it never addresses one person's situation.
